Potassium permanganate 3% in distilled water
Potassium permanganate 3%. Useful for visualising hyaline spores and structures. Sample will turn brown against a rose-coloured background.
USE: Add sample to 3% solution and add cover slip. To clear the background for better contrast, draw water through the sample by adding a drop of water to one side of the cover slip and use a small piece of filter paper on the other side of the coverslip to absorb excess stain.
A 5% solution may be better for the visualisation of germ pores (contact us if you require this).
